Norax / Connect Helper

A local assistant,
with your hands on the wheel.

A tiny Windows download that chats with Norax's hosted AI over your Tailscale network and can operate your PC — showing you the exact command and waiting for your yes every single time. Built-in PowerShell, no installs, no admin.

How it stays safe Every proposed command is shown in full with its reason and your working folder before anything runs; nothing executes without your explicit approval, commands run as your user, the helper never opens inbound ports or auto-starts, and the pairing key grants chat only.

Setup — three steps

  1. Sign in to Tailscale on the PC, on the same tailnet as Norax. Don't have it? Install it yourself from the official Tailscale download page — the helper never installs anything silently.
  2. Download the ZIP, right-click → Extract All, open the folder, and double-click Connect-Helper.cmd. Get the pairing key from Norax in chat and enter it once — it's stored encrypted for your user account only.
  3. Describe your problem in plain words. The helper chats, proposes fixes, and asks before every command.
No Python, Node, OpenSSH, or Windows optional features are needed — it's built-in Windows PowerShell. No admin rights to launch; if a fix needs admin, relaunch Connect-Helper.cmd via right-click "Run as administrator" yourself.

How approval works

For every proposed command — even read-only diagnostics — the console shows your current working folder, why the command is proposed, and the exact full PowerShell command. You type yes to run it; anything else declines. Declined commands never run, and the assistant is told you declined so it can adjust. Approved commands run as your user with a time limit; their output, errors, and exit code go back to the chat so the fix proceeds step by step.

Honest scope

Pairing key, reset, and revocation

The key is stored encrypted (Windows DPAPI, your user only) in %LOCALAPPDATA%\NoraxConnectHelper\settings.json — the helper never prints it. If it's ever rejected (keys rotate), ask Norax for the current key, delete that file, and start Connect-Helper.cmd again. Norax can rotate or revoke keys on the relay side at any time.

Privacy / safety, plainly

Honest limitation: the relay and protocol are tested end-to-end on the server side; the Windows console experience has not been verified on a physical Windows PC. If anything looks off, tell Norax in chat.
